          The Delicious Max/MSP Tutorials:

A lot of people have been asking me about further reading for learning/studying Max. Unfortunately I'm not aware of too many organized Max classes. If you're in the New York City area there's always Harvestworks (www.harvestworks.org) which in addition to having great classes and facilities also boasts strong ties to Max itself.

That being said, any university with a music engineering department will usually offer Max classes. I got most of my Max education at Brown, which both for me personally and in the context of other schools offers superb experimental and electronic music instruction. Other good schools include McGill, Stanford, MIT and University of Texas at Austin (these are just off the very top of my head, I'm sure there are others).

I also recommend the hell out of Peter Batchelor's tutorials (http://www.youtube.com/user/MUST1002) and the Baz tutorial series (http://www.youtube.com/user/BazTutorials), both of which I consider superior in content to my own.

Of course, the Cycling '74 website itself is always a great place for Max learning. The forums are always friendly and informative, and the Cycling '74 documentation staff have been working triple overtime to churn out great tutorials on working with hardware  (http://cycling74.com/2012/01/04/working-with-hardware-livid-instruments%E2%80%99-code/) and other stuff. The Patch A Day (PAD) series, especially the one on gen (http://cycling74.com/2012/02/06/gen-patch-a-day/) is especially great.

Don't forget about the examples folder! Some of the best and most informative Max related lessons I've ever had came from combing through Max6/examples/.

And finally, I'm definitely open to meeting in person. Next to eating pickles teaching Max is one of my favorite things in the world. I hope people know about Max meetups (http://www.meetup.com/C74Max/). If people would be interested I'd be overjoyed to help organize a kind of knowledge-share meetup. It could be Fun-ducational? Fun-formative? I'll shut up now.
